Do you have dry skin? If you're not sure, then ask yourself these following questions. Does it look flaky or feel tight? Are the flakes from your skin starting to make you think it's snowing?

If this sounds like you, then listen up. Just because you're a guy doesn't mean you have to neglect your skin. Remember, your face is what everyone sees first and knowing that, it's important to keep your skin healthy. Having dry skin mean you got to be extra careful with what you put on your face. Since dry skin is sensitive a wrong skin product and you can get nasty results. So when your dry skin starts to flake who you gonna call? Men Skin Care Tips.com. This site gives you the best options to treat your dry skin. Tips and products made just for men by men.

Why start taking care of your skin? Like mentioned before, it's what people see first. Also having dry skin makes your face feel tight and that makes your skin loose elasticity and will end up making you look like a prune. Do you want to be a prune? So start taking care of your skin!

Check out these men's skin care tips provided by Men Skin Care Tips.com and made especially for men with dry skin:

Cleaning Dry Skin

When cleaning your dry skin, use gentle products. NO alcohol-based cleaning products! Another tip, don't wash your face with water. Now we don't mean to forget water entirely but did you know that a hot shower will dry up your face even more afterwards? Now you know.

We recommend you try Peter Thomas Roth “Sensitive Skin Cleansing Gel” that baby should do the work and leave your skin clean and refreshes with out damaging it. Peter Thomas Roth Sensitive Skin Cleansing Gel is an oil-free gel. It's ideal for sensitive, dry, mature, normal or oily skin types who desire soap and water “squeaky-clean” feel without tightness and dehydration.

Shaving Dry Skin

Shaving is already harmful to normal skin and for dry skin it's just plain irritating. Shave carefully and apply a thick layer of shaving cream to protect your skin. The best cream out on the market is Philosophy the Common Man: “extra-comfort shaving cream”. If you are using an electric razor, don't shave at the closest setting?it's too irritating. And as far as after shaves, avoid most of them because they contain alcohol. A great after-shave made especially for dry skin is The Art of Shaving: After Shave Balm, Unscented for Sensitive Skin.

Moisturizing Dry Skin

If your not moisturizing by now and you have sensitive skin then you better start NOW. Moisturizers do just what the name implies. Moisturize. And dry skin needs lots of that. But don't just by any moisturizer for men, by a specific one that is made for men with dry skin such as The Art of Shaving: Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin.

It's three easy steps. Clean, Shave and moisturize. Of course if after you try men skin care products for dry skin and still see flakes or feel tightness on your skin then go see a dermatologist. Getting you skin smooth and soft is best not only for you but for your appearance. Would a girl want to kiss your flaky cheek or a nice, clean smooth cheek? Having great skin is up to you, you won't see the results if you don't start taking care of your dry skin.

Patience may be a virtue, but laughter is the only way to survive goat milking. You can strive for the perfect fencing. You must aim for good nutrition. But, don?t kid yourself. When it comes to milking, you do not get the last word.

When I decided to add milk goats to my backyard farm I envisioned pitchers of milk cooling in the fridge while cheddar rounds age in my cellar. Spirit, my first nanny, had other ideas. There is an old saying I just made up: ?Don?t expect instant gratification from your very first dairy goat lactation.? Like dating, expecting nothing is the first step toward not being let down. Perseverance is the next step toward surviving goats with your sanity moderately intact.

Spirit proved mutinous in milking. Even with twins at her side, she had ample milk to share. Generosity was simply not her forte. However, like falling off a bike or getting thrown from your horse, when you find a goat leg lodged in your right ear, you must climb right back on. To help other potential farmers deal with inevitable frustration, I have provided the following journal. It documents my first full month of milking Spirit. From this draw hope. There is light at the end of the nipple.

Day 1: Leashed goat runs around tie post kicking and bucking. Never got near the teat.

Day 2: Build ?EZ One Hour Goat Milking Stand? from online instructions. Define five hours in hell.

Day 3: Adjust Goat Milking Stand so goat?s big fat head will fit through the stocks into the feed box.

Day 4: Adjust Goat Milking Stand so goat?s skinny little head will not retreat from feed box out through the stocks.

Day 5: Collect 3.5 tsp. milk from flailing goat on milking stand.

Day 6: Ditto.

Day 7: Tether goat?s leg. Goat kicks loose in .3 seconds.

Day 8: Tether goat?s leg better. Goat kicks loose dumping over 3.5 tsp. of milk.

Day 9: Try new tethering technique. Collect entire ounce of milk. Goat?s effort to kick loose succeeds only after she sheds 3.5 tsp. of hair into the shot glass of milk.

Day 10: Go to store. Buy milk.

Day 11 ? 14: Discouraged. Just squirt some milk straight onto the milking stand so that the apparently dwindling right teat stays active.

Day 15: Goat now standing still while I collect three ounces of milk. Then the cantankerous witch sticks her foot in it.

Day 16 ? 18: Ditto, ditto and ditto.

Day 19: Right teat has all but vanished.

Day 20: Right teat empty.

Day 21: Spirit?s legal team serves me with papers declaring her functional left teat off limits and for her babies only.

Day 22 ? 23: Practice milking technique while coaxing droplets from withered right teat.

Day 24: Have mastered milking with right hand while my left hand holds the receptacle up, dodging the maniacal wenches attempts put her foot in the milk. Net bounty from flat tit approx 1.4 oz. Note: Goat still shedding.

Day 25-26: Milk rations slightly increasing. Goat and cottonwood trees now both shedding into the milk receptacle.

Day 27: Babies distract me by biting my shirt while I am milking. Spirit?s foot returns to the milk receptacle.

Day 28: Babies adamant about eating my clothes while I milk. I steal milk from their precious left teat.

Day 29: Babies try to distract me by eating my hair. I try to ignore them. Goat flinches. My foot avoider reflex overcompensates, hurling the milk directly inside my protective LASIK goggles. Startled by my French, both babies run off in opposite directions with my hair still in their mouths.

Day 30: And the beat goes on.

Day 31: Average daily yield now totals around 10 oz. Source: two milkings per day from 1.2 tits.

Remember, when the day comes, and it will, where you just walk up to your nanny and quickly squirt a little milk straight into your morning coffee then wander off sobbing, bear in mind with a little patience, all this can be yours. Oh boy!

In recent years, a number of companies have introduced liquid vitamin supplements, some of them claiming that these products far outperform the traditional vitamin pill. While some companies took their claims too far (and were charged accordingly), the debate continues as to which type of vitamin is the most effective.

The main advantage of a liquid supplement is the speed and ease of absorption by the body. Since there is no need to break down a solid, the vitamins are absorbed immediately. Liquid fans also claim that the absorption rate is much higher, making the supplements more effective.

There are also those who hate swallowing big vitamin pills or simply can't swallow them due to a medical condition. For instance, people who have had gastric bypass surgery find it hard to keep a pill down. Throat surgery can also make swallowing solids painful. For people like this, liquid vitamins are the only viable option.

But liquid supplements have their drawbacks. One of the main problems is that the vitamins and minerals do not keep their potency as well in liquid form. That means that the liquids have a shorter shelf life than pills.

There are also enzymes contained in some vitamin tablets that aid in the absorption of the nutrients. These enzymes can't be included in liquid vitamins because they only last for a day or so in liquids. While with pills, the enzymes retain their effectiveness for the entire shelf life of the products.

The claim of faster and more complete absorption of liquids is also challenged by some experts. While it's true that we digest liquids more quickly than solids, this does not necessarily lead to a more effective product.

The most effective place for vitamin absorption is at the beginning of the small intestine. There are some claims that much of the contents of liquid vitamins is destroyed by stomach acids before it even gets this far. Pills, meanwhile, are coated to keep them from dissolving completely before they reach the small intestine.

While we live in a world where immediate effects are usually considered a good thing, their relevance for vitamins is questionable. After all, our bodies don't suddenly have vitamin emergencies. If one vitamin supplement is absorbed into our systems an hour sooner than another, it's unlikely to have any noticeable effect on our overall health.

When it comes to our health, nobody likes to guess what is best. But until enough time has passed to show for certain whether there is a difference between the effects of liquid and tablet vitamins, you'll simply have to go with the one that makes the most sense for you. As long as you are focused on a healthy lifestyle and good nutrition, the format of your vitamin supplement shouldn't be a critical decision.

Human beings are bound by certain social rules and etiquettes. Dogs are too, however, their rules are entirely different from our rules. For example, it is rare that one person meets another person and within seconds begins a violent fight. This behavior, however, is very common with our canine friends. Introducing two dogs in public is an art and an exercise in training and control. You must be prepared if you are going to avoid not only dog fights, but if you are to steer clear of dog illnesses and other problems when introducing two dogs.

When I have my dogs in public the first rule I live by is ?assume the worst?. What I mean by this is that I assume that most other dogs out there are ill-behaved and not dog friendly. I know this sounds extreme and perhaps rude but honestly, am I that far off? If you assume this position you will be correct a majority of the time. Most dogs in public are poorly trained and poorly socialized and shouldn?t be counted on to automatically get along with your dog.

So how do you go about introducing two dogs with such assumptions? The short answer is, I don?t. When I am in public, generally speaking, I keep my dogs separate from other dogs I encounter. Do I know if the approaching dog is current with his shots, do I know if the other dog is dog aggressive? The answer is no. Why would I introduce my dog into such an unknown situation where he could get injured from a fight or sick from an illness?

The next assumption I typically make is ?assume the other dog owner knows nothing about dogs?. When I approach another dog owner on the street or in a park I often find that they are eager to have their dog meet both my dog and me. I often hear comforting words such as, ?Oh, he?s fine with other dogs,? or, ?It?s ok, he?s friendly.? Well the truth is that maybe their dog has been friendly with a few dogs but who is to say that their dog will be friendly with my dog? I was once walking with a client and their dog down a path in the woods when along came a beautiful Airedale Terrier. As we approached the owner of the terrier called out, ?He?s friendly!? following which the dog immediately proceeded to lunge at the leash while barking quite aggressively, obviously looking for a fight. Both I and my client?s dog barely missed being bit as the other owner was nearly pulled over. Ever since this experience, and many similar ones, I have realized that I can?t trust the judgment of other dog owners.

As a result of this style of thinking I religiously avoid dog parks. They are the bane of the dog world and should be avoided at all costs. They are a recipe for disease and fighting. You would be wise to avoid these settings.

Am I being too much of an extremist? No, I don?t think so. In doing this I am almost guaranteeing a safe outing everywhere I go. You may be asking, ?But what about socialization? Shouldn?t my dog learn to get along with other dogs?? The answer is yes, but only under controlled settings.

I am very careful about the children that my young daughter meets. I try to avoid having her meet kids who are bullies or sick. Why wouldn?t I do the same for my dog? Whenever I allow my dogs to meet new dogs I do so only when the situation is controlled.

So what is a controlled situation? It could be a variety of settings, but typically a controlled situation is one where I am familiar with the other dog owner, familiar with the other dog and feel that said owner can control said dog. A controlled situation finds both dogs on leash and under control. When introducing two dogs I am always confident that I can control my dog so I need to make sure I partner up with someone else who can also control their dog. With all of these ducks in a row I am ready to introduce my dog to the other dog.

As I said, both dogs are on leash so the first step is allowing the other dogs to be near each other to see initial reactions. I will have my dog about 10 feet from the other dog. If either of the two begins to show aggression I know that maybe this is not a potential friendship. If they are okay at this distance I proceed. One dog remains stationary, preferably in the ?sit? command, while the other dog is walked by at a distance of 5-6 feet. The moving dog is then asked to sit while the other walks 5-6 away. Everybody still okay? Good, let?s keep going. Now I put my dog in the heel position on my left hand side while the other owner puts her dog on her left hand side. From here we walk past each other head on. By walking head on with our dogs on our left hand sides and under control the dogs are still separated by our bodies and still haven?t come in contact with each other. At this point, however, each dog has seen the other from a variety of angles and from a variety of potentially threatening and non-threatening positions. If they are still okay you can keep going. Obviously if they have shown aggression at any point you should stop the session.

The next step is the actual introduction. Each owner should approach the other, each dog should be preferably in the heel position. At about 3-4 feet from each other the owners should have their dogs sit by their sides. If everyone is still all right the owners should release the dogs from the sit position and slowly allow the dogs to start sniffing. After a few seconds each owner leads his or her dog away from each other and walks in the opposite direction. Do a U-turn and return to each others proximity. Come back to a halt again 3-4 feet away from each other and repeat the process. Do this several times, each time allowing the dogs to sniff each other for a bit longer period. At this stage it is important to look for tell-tale signs. If the hair on the back of one dog goes straight up lead that dog away and go even slower with the introductions. Watch for other signs such as the lips being lifted, growling, or other very tense behavior.

It is important to keep your dogs on leash. If a fight were to break out both owners could immediately drag each dog apart from each other. If when you introduce two dogs like this and everyone is still okay you can gradually give the dogs more and more freedom and allow them to play even more.

As with all dog training, use common sense. Watch for signs in your dog. Introducing two dogs can be fun, but you must always exercise caution.

Baby carriers in various forms have been in use for centuries. Their great virtue for many cultures was that they allowed a parent to move freely about while keeping a child attached and safe. Obviously, baby carrying allows a child's care-giver to more easily work or travel.

Modern baby carriers serve contemporary parents in much the same way. Of course, we aren't out working in the fields or migrating across the Steppes, but modern moms and dads still juggle household and child-rearing tasks all day long. Plus, the rise of Attachment Parenting as a movement among progressive parents reinforced the benefits of parent-child closeness, and modern baby carriers provide a great way to keep baby close without having to hold him in your arms.

The benefits of keeping an infant in close physical proximity are many, according to so called “baby-wearing” or attachment parenting advocates, Dr. William Sears most notably. (To be precise, baby wearing is both its own movement and also one of Dr. Sears attachment parenting “ideals.” For more information about attachment parenting, see the Ask Dr. Sears website.) Some of the claimed benefits of baby-wearing for both the parent and infant include the following:

Mothers' progesterone (mothering hormone) is increased through physical contact with the infant, leading to a more intimate maternal bond, easier breastfeeding and better care, thus lowering the incidence of postpartum depression and psychosomatic illness.

Infants who are carried are calmer because all of their primal/survival needs are met. The caregiver can be seen, heard, smelled, touched, tasted, provide feeding and the motion necessary for continuing neural development, gastrointestinal and respiratory health and to establish balance (inner ear development) and muscle tone is constant.

Infants IQ and brain mass are measurably greater when primal needs are met since babies spend more time in a quiet state of attentive alertness, which is ideal for learning, rather than in a panicked survival mode.

Infants are more organized. Parental rhythms (walking, heartbeat, etc.) have balancing and soothing effects on infants.

Infants are “humanized” earlier by developing socially. Babies are closer to people and can study facial expressions, learn languages faster and be familiar with body language.

Developmental milestones such as learning to walk, talk and toilet train are reached earlier.

Contrary to western cultural myths, independence is established earlier.

Aggression is diminished.

Attachment between child and caregiver is more secure.

Decreases risk of positional plagiocephaly (”flat head syndrome”) caused by extended time spent in a car seat and by sleeping on the back. Sleeping on the back is recommended to decrease the risk of SIDS. Cranial distortion resulting from non-vehicular time in car seats has shown to be more severe than in children who develop plagiocephaly from back-lying on a mattress. Concern over plagiocephaly has also lead the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend that infants ?should spend minimal time in car seats (when not a passenger in a vehicle) or other seating that maintains supine positioning. None of the babywearing positions require infants to lie supine while being carried. Infants can even be worn while sleeping, also decreasing sleeping time spent in a supine position.

Although there are some who argue that the expectation of increased involvement with children inherent in attachment parenting and babywearing practices may create undo stress on parents, particularly on working mothers, most parents will attest that infants are happiest when close to their parents, especially to their mothers.

Given the benefits of babywearing, it comes as no surprise that Baby Bjorn, one of the pioneers of the modern baby carrier, is often recommended to new parents. In fact, Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio, one of the top ten rated pediatric hospitals in the country according to both Child Magazine and U.S. News and World Report, recently endorsed the use Baby Bjorn baby carriers. Dr. Avroy A. Fanaroff, Chairman of Pediatrics and Chief Medical Officer at Rainbow, wrote the following:

Since 1973 BabyBjorn has designed baby carriers that strengthen the infant-child relationship. The intimate fit of all BabyBjorn baby carrier models help baby feel “at one” with the parent. Carrying baby close can ease stress for both parents and child, and a parent's natural movements can calm a fussy baby. BabyBjorn baby carriers help position the baby comfortably and at the same time provide the proper support for the infant's spine and hips.

As Dr. Fanaroff notes, all of the Baby Bjorn baby carriers provide the key benefits of babywearing Baby Bjorn's current styles include the still-popular Original Carrier, the Active Carrier with enhanced back support, and the Air Carrier for more comfortable babywearing in warm weather.

Beyond the pleasures and benefits of keeping your baby close by using a baby carrier, most parents find that the added mobility and being able to hold baby “hands free” while using a baby carrier are indispensable. I know that among our friends, we've passed one particular Baby Bjorn Original Carriers around for over five years, across four different children. We couldn't live with it.

Your bathroom is not only a functional room, it's also a place where we spend a great deal of time creating a relaxing in an atmosphere we've create why we soak in the bubbles or have a long relaxing shower to unwind from our busy day. Candles, decor, and flooring all play an important role in creating the atmosphere. Here's why you should use bath rugs in your bathroom.

Change the color

If you are tired of the look of your bathroom and you want to give it a make over you can use bath rugs to help. If your walls are a neutral color your job is easy. Choose bath rugs that fit your new color scheme, buy some complimenting towels and accessories and in under $150.00 your bathroom will have an entire new look. You can even find full sets in your local department stores that come with everything to complete your whole bathroom.

Make your bathroom cozy

Most bathrooms have either linoleum or a tile floor which can look very good but is can be cold to the feet. A bit of a shock after crawling out of the tub or shower. Bath rugs can be strategically placed in front of the tub or shower and compliment the existing flooring while providing a warm and soft place for your feet.

Change the look

Modernize your bathroom or turn it into an antique haven. You can do a total character change. Choose rugs that a fun and funky or traditional Victorian for your room. Make a few other small changes to your decor and for under a $180.00 your bathroom can have a total makeover. Excluding the purchasing of a claw foot tub or jet spray tub.

Make a safer floor

Bathroom floors can be slippery when they get wet. Bath rugs can give you a level of safety when stepping out of the tub or shower while at the same time playing an important role in your room decor.

A Spa At Home

Calgon take me away. We've all seen those commercials where a woman is relaxing in her spa tub while the worries of the day disappear. Why not transform your bathroom into a luxurious spa where you can get away from it all. Imagine that deep plush pile bath rug in a rich jewel color, scented candles burning, lights dimmed, soft music playing while you soak away your days worries in your favorite scent. Under $75.00 and your room will be made over.

Fun for the kids

Is getting the kids to brush their teeth, wash up, or have a bath a chore. Are they constantly fighting you because there are other things they'd rather do? Then make your kid' bathroom a fun place to visit. Decorate with bath rugs from their favorite characters, add a matching shower curtain, some toothbrushes, and cups. You can even buy soaps that follow the theme. The only fight you'll have on your hands now is who gets the bathroom first. Under $75.00 and you'll have a kid friendly bathroom.

The most important thing to remember when choosing a bath rug is that your bathroom deserves the same attention you would give to any other room in your home. Start by deciding what you want to accomplish in your bathroom, then choose colors and go shopping for the right bath rug.

Think outside the box, try not to choose those traditional bathroom rugs everyone sell. Rather try something different like a braided rug, a Sisal rug, or an oriental rug.

Of course there are few things that are important to keeping bath rugs sanitized and looking fresh and new. Be sure to wash them regularly and don't choose rugs are susceptible to mold or mildew because of the high moisture content in a bathroom. Make sure the rug you choose has dyes that are firmly set. A rubber backing is great to prevent rotting and slippage. But remember a rubber backing will be ruined by the dryer so you'll need to hang to dry. If the rug does not have a rubber backing you can easily attach a piece and the benefit is it can be removed when you wash it.

Bath rugs are an affordable method of giving your entire bathroom a face lift. Just add some accessories and everyone will think you've been working really hard!

Making soap in a crock pot is an easy way to use the ?hot process? method.

This how-to tutorial outlines my steps for making crock pot soap and assumes you are familiar with the soapmaking process.

Start with a good recipe. I prefer recipes that have a higher amount of liquid oil to solids. One of my favorite recipes is very simple: 60% Olive Oil, 20% Palm Kernel Oil, 20% Palm Oil. Run it through a lye calculator to determine the amount of lye and [distilled] water needed. I don?t discount my water when making hot process. (One of my favorite recipes is at the end of these instructions.)

I use a 6 1/2 quart crock pot. A 4 pound batch of soaps fits perfectly. It fills the crock pot about half full - giving room in the case of it bubbling up, but not too little an amount that it could burn.

First, measure water and set aside.

Then measure the lye into a separate container. Slowly pour the lye into the pitcher of cold water. Stir until dissolved. Set aside in a safe place.

Once I have my lye mixture set aside, I measure my solid oils. These can be put into the crock pot to be melted. But, it takes longer this way, so I generally put them into the microwave for a couple minutes until melted and then pour into the crockpot.

At this point, my crock pot is on low.

I recommend using a good rubber spatula to scrape the bowl - no sense leaving any good oils behind.

Next, I measure my olive oil - and/or any other liquid oils I happen to be using - and pour this into the crockpot.

Get out your handy-dandy stickblender and using low speed, slowly pour the lye mixture into the melted oils. Gently move the stickblender around, up, down, around, ensuring a nice even blend. If you don?t have a stickblender, a stainless steel wire whisk works great too - just requires a little more arm power.

Once it has reached ?trace?, I put the lid on the crockpot and turn the heat setting up to high. However, the first few times I made crock pot soap, I left it on low until I was confident in how it worked (both the soap AND my crockpot).

Now, I ready my mold, measure out any fragrance oils or essential oils and any additives I plan to use.

After about 15 or 20 minutes, I take the lid off and, using a potato masher, mash the soap around. It has a look of a vaseline texture glossy, slick. It will have a waxy feel if you rub a piece of it between gloved fingers.

Add your additives, colorants, herbs, etc and mix well using the potato masher. Once that is blended fairly well, add your fragrance and mix again.

It is done! At this point, it?s really soap. It only needs to be put into your mold. I do this in large spoonfuls, pounding my mold on the counter every few scoops to ensure it packs into the mold tightly. Once I have it all in the mold, I put a baggie on my hand and flatten the top - making sure to ?squish? it into the corners really well.

Now is a good time to wash all the dishes. And you don?t even need to add any soap! You should see some lovely lather from the soap you?ve just made.

I let this sit over-night. The next morning, I unmold and slice into bars to air out for a week or so. Once each bar has had time to harden, I bevel each one and it?s ready for use, or sale.

My favorite crock pot soap recipe:

Rosemary Mint Handmade Soap

4 pounds
- 38 ounces olive oil (59.38%)
- 14.4 ounces palm kernel oil (22.5%)
- 11.6 ounces palm oil (18.13%)
- 8.7 ounces sodium hydroxide (5% discount)
- 17.5 ounces distilled water
- 3 ounces rosemary mint blend essential oils
- 2 teabags of Organic Peppermint tea

Disclaimer: Sodium Hydroxide is highly caustic and should be handled carefully and knowledgeably. It is the soapmakers responsibility to research safety procedures for soapmaking.

Judi Cox is a wife and mother of 4 children. Her hobbies include, but are ever growing, making handmade soap, gardening, crafts, web design, reading…

Soap can make us feel a certain way depending on the scent or color. It of course always makes us feel clean, but certain types of soap are best for us.Soaps with a wonderful aroma aren't cheap in the stores. That's why it is better many times to make your own soap the way you like it. I love washing with vanilla scented soap or sometimes a refreshing scent such as china rain. Soap scents can bring back many good memories.

Soap in the stores nowadays just doesn't smell as good as homemade soap. You have to pay a lot of money to find a soap in the store with a good lasting fragrance.

You can make your own homemade soap fairly inexpensively and the scent would last you for a while. You can choose any fragrance you want. There are all kinds to choose from such as rose, vanilla, lavender and so many more. You can even put herbs, flowers or other things inside the soap such as toys or cute erasers. Would you like to try?

We will start with a basic recipe. There are hundreds to choose from but it's always better to start out simple. Remember, sometimes it takes a few tries to get it right. When you get the process down it becomes easy and fun to create your own soap. Ever since I started making soap not even my husband wants to use another soap. He broke out when he used a store bought soap so he says he just wants to use the soap I make.

Heres the recipe, followed by a backlink that will help you find more recipes and soap and bath products to help you. I prefer melt and pour because this soap is not only easy to make but very gentle on the skin.

Basic Recipe For Melt and Pour Homemade Soap

Ingredients:

1 pound clear melt and pour glycerin soap base
1/2 oz (20-30 drops)of fragrance or essential oil, herbs or anything you want to add to the soap

Things you will absolutely need:

a microwaveable container or bowl
Wooden spoon
Soap molds

Put the pound of m&ampp soap base in the microwave safe bowl. Place in microwave on high for 1 minute. Take out and stir. If not completely melted place in microwave on 1 minute. Keep checking until soap is completely melted.

Next, pour the fragrance or essential oil or herbs, toys etc you want put in the soap. Stir and pour into soap molds. Let set about 1 or 2 hours. If mold still fells warm let soap set until completely cooled. Then pop out onto wax paper.

Then wrap in pretty package such as plastic wrap with a bow or soap bags or boxes. Then label soap and put what scent it is or use it right away. These soaps make great gifts.

www.amandassoaps.com This website has soap and beauty recipes. It also has handmade soap and bath products for sale at great prices.
I hope you have fun with this project. Check out the other recipes and products on my website amandassoaps.com

Hand washing is a simple act with a huge impact. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) says washing your hands properly reduces the transmission of pathogens to food, water, people, and common objects such as hand railings, door knobs, and grocery carts. Washing your hands is important all the time, but it is especially important during the holidays when you are exposed to crowds of people.

According to the CDC, the “fundamental principle of hand washing is removal [of bacteria], not killing. Is there a correct way to wash your hands? In an article titled “General Information on Hand Hygiene” the CDC recommends washing your hands for at least 20 seconds. Mayo Clinic recommends 15 seconds of hand washing on its Website. Here are Mayo Clinic's recommendations and some additional comments.

1. Wet your hands with warm, running water and apply liquid or bar soap. The soap should be clean and you should work up a good lather.

2. Scrub the back of your hands, between all of your fingers, under your fingernails, and your wrists.(You will have to demonstrate this for young children.) Kids may enjoy using a nail brush, but it is not necessary.

3. Rinse your hands well. Leaving soap on your hands could cause a skin rash and make “winter itch” worse.

4. Dry your hands with a clean clot towel or paper towel. Moist hands can still transmit bacteria so dry your hands well. Do not use the reusable cloth towel rolls that some rest rooms have because they transmit bacteria. Dry your hands with tissues instead.

5. Turn off the faucet with a towel.

Kids are probably not going to follow all of these steps and getting them to wash for 20 seconds can be hard. To make sure young kids wash their hands long enough have them sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” two times. Bring hand sanitizer with you when you are out and about. You and your children should wash your hands after:

* using a public rest room

* blowing your nose

* touching your eyes or contact lenses

* shaking hands

* changing a diaper

* bagging garbage and putting it in trash cans

* pet contact (holding, petting, feeding, walking)

* touching raw food

* touching dirty clothes, blankets, sheets, pillowcases

* going to a grocery or department store

* being in a public place, such as a theater

Though hand sanitizers are handy, the CDC says they are not a replacement for frequent and proper hand washing. Hand sanitizers do not clean hands that are really dirty or contaminated, adds the CDC.Protect yourself against colds and flu this holiday season by washing your hands well. Young kids will be more apt to wash their hands if the soap is easy to reach. Holiday bottles of pump soap will also encourage hand washing.
